The Berlin Polar Bears (Eisbären Berlin) won the match against their favorite rival EHC Wolfsburg Grizzly Adams this sunday afternoon. With a 6:2 (2:1, 1:1, 3:0) they celebrated their third away game win in series. (Viewers: 3300) The Berlin Polar Bears changed for the better, they are in fourth place in the table now and Wolfsburg is still the bottom of it.

The head coach of the Berlin Polar Bears, Don Jackson, changed only one position in comparison to the Cologne Sharks (Kölner Haie) match. Instead of Rob Zepp, Sebastian Elwing kept the goal.

The Polar Bears got the better start and after five minutes in the first period Barry Tallackson scored the 1:0. The goalie of Wolfsburg, Daniar Dshunussow, was an Berlin Polar Bear 2005-2007.
But the olar Bears were wide awake so this was not the end. Two minutes later the guests scored again the 2:0. The new first line including Brière, Giroux and Rankel were on ice and scored it. Claude Giroux passed to captain André Rankel, he put the puck on net and Danny Brière scored the goal. It was the first DEL goal for the NHL-Star.

Berlin was clearly the better team in the first period but missed scoring more goals. The EHC Wolfsburg Grizzly Adams won’t give up fighting and so they scored in the 18th minute. It was Adrian Grygiel who shot and scored the 1:2.

In the second period the Berlin Polar Bears took their chance to score in a fast way. Claude Giroux passed the puck to Danny Brière and he scored the 3:1 (24th minute).
Wolfsburg was set under pressure and in the 30 minute Aleksander Polaczek scored the 2:3.
But that’s it. The second period wasn’t full of highlights but of the decisions of the referees. The most negative moment in the game was a check to the head and neck area by Wolfsburg-player Matt Dzieduszycki against Vincent Schlenker (Berlin Polar Bears). After that Daniel Weiß wanted a revenge and it came to a tough fight on the ice. Both players got penalties (2+2+10 minutes because of excessive roughness). Dzieduszycki got 2+10 extra minutes because of his action against Schlenker. So Dzieduszycki was out of the game.

In the third period the Berliners raised their tempo again and Wolfsburg didn’t have a chance to get the puck. One minute into the period Jamie Arniel scored the 4:2 for the Polar Bears.
Since then the Polar Bears had very good chances but it took time till the 54th minute as they scored again. And again Daniel Brière and Claude Giroux gave their assist to the scored goal by Frank Hördler – 5:2 now.
Well anyone who thought this would be the end was wrong. The climax was the third goal by Brière and his hat-trick 41 seconds before ending! – 6:2

It was an amazing game and celebration for Brière and the Berlin Polar Bears!
